We are delighted to announce that the Christmas lunch raised nearly £17,000 for our charities including £3,628 collected for the Benevolent Fund.
We would like to thank all of those who attended, bid for the lots, bought raffle tickets and provided the fantastic prizes – the National Deaf Children’s Society were thrilled with the total.
We’d also like to say a big thank you to our sponsors Gold Medal & Travel 2, Seabourn and Attraction World.
After a lovely lunch and an inspiring speech from Rachel Shenton on behalf of the National Deaf Children’s Society, guests were given a crash course in sign language by the charity choir singing Merry Christmas Everyone , the Twelve Days of Christmas and the classic White Christmas. Then it was time to raise some serious cash, expertly auctioned by Nick Hughes of Gold Medal / Travel 2.
Our chair, Sarah Clayton Turner said: “It has been a year of transition for AWTE. As an organisation we have become focused on issues that affect the careers of women in the travel industry and have re-calibrated our events accordingly. I have no doubt that 2018 will see the organisation develop further.”
