| Our legendary AWTE Christmas Lunch was a rip-roaring success, with 350 guests packing the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington. Chairman Karen Ramírez extended a warm welcome to all and gave a spirited presentation (click here for the full text) of what AWTE has been up to in the past year and where the Association is heading in 2011. | ||

| Entertainment on the day went down a storm, with Zimbabwean cricketer turned singer, Henry Olonga, entertaining guests with a series of festive songs, as well as his rendition of Nessun Dorma, which helped him win Five's The All Star Talent Show - and everyone joined in to sing Hark the Herald Angels Sing - a capella! | ||

| The guest speaker was Caroline Marsh. She told us about her beginnings in Zambia, her first job as a crew member with the airline Zambian Express - and then, when the airline went bust, how she secured both a liquidation cheque and a date with the man who was to become her husband. She then went on to make her first million in property investment - and was invited onto Channel 4's The Secret Millionaire, where she mentored and supported a community project in the socially disadvantaged area of Toxteth/Liverpool. | ||

| An engaging and inspiring speaker, Caroline charted her rise to the top, shared the secrets of her success, and outlined why her charity work is as critical a part of her life as investing in property. | ||
Our nominated charity for 2010 is Business Against Poverty  , the business arm of charity, Robin Hood Ministries. |

| Val gave us an inspirational overview of the charity's work in Romania, Nepal and Haiti where established projects include child sponsorship, medical assistance, legal assistance, canteens and access to school and education for children and their families. The charity focuses on engaging the entire community with a view to them eventually taking control of their own environment, lives and well-being. | ||
| The generosity of our donors, sponsors and guests helped to raise £13,698 for Business Against Poverty, and £2,500 for our own Benevolent Fund. | ||
