Role:
- co-ordinates Executive Committee and Association activities
- leads and oversees progress of Association during term of office
- attends as many functions as possible during her term of office and encourages and supports the membership
- ensures that all matters to do with members and profile of the Association are dealt with
- ensures that AWTE UK continues to be a leading voice within the travel industry
The Chairman must have served at least two years on the Executive Committee prior to her appointment. Ideally she will then be appointed Vice-Chairman and in her fourth serving year become Chairman. |

Role:
- supports and deputises for the Chairman during her term of office
- shadows the Chairman in readiness for her own term of office
In recent years the Vice-Chairman has been responsible for organising the Chairman's Cocktail Party thrown by AWTE UK on the first Monday of the World Travel Market at which many overseas and IFWTO Members take the opportunity to join AWTE UK at one of their most prestigious events.
The Vice-Chairman will have served two years on the Executive Committee before being appointed Vice-Chairman. She automatically takes over as Chairman (except in exceptional circumstances).

Role:
- arranges all Executive Committee meetings and prepares the agenda in association with Chairman
- takes and distributes the minutes
- organises elections and arranges Chairman's Farewell Dinner with Executive Committee
- ensures all members are given full notification of the AGM
- sends out Nomination Forms along with job descriptions for Executive Committee election
- prepares curriculum vitae along with voting form for the resulting Nominees
- is responsible for the preparation of the AGM including room and refreshments
- takes and distributes the minutes at the AGM

Finance Officer

Role:
- oversees the Association's accounts
- keeps the books in order
- checks bills are correct
- pays invoices
- reconciles bank accounts, etc.
- generally advises the Committee on matters of economy and finance
The Financial Year runs from 01 February to 31 January and audited reports are prepared for submission at the AGM, which is held in April.
As we are registered for VAT the Finance Officer submits the quarterly VAT returns.
A Finance Report is provided at each Executive Committee Meeting giving details of the bank balances, payments made and received during the month and any other finance matters so that all the Committee are up to date with the finances of the Association.

- responds to enquiries about membership in AWTE UK

- ensures AWTE UK and its members receive maximum media profile and coverage
- ensures that AWTE UK insignia is displayed at all events associated with AWTE UK

Role:
- promotes IFWTO, the International Federation of Women's Travel Organizations news, events and activities to the AWTE UK Membership throughout the year
- attends and represents AWTE UK at the International Federation's Annual Conference and is responsible for ensuring that the interests of AWTE UK are voiced and listened to
- subsequently reports on the Conference to the Chairman and the Membership
- organises an annual Federation Evening, encouraging members old and new to become involved in IFWTO
- liaises with the Trustees of the 1984 Convention Fund

Honoraries/Associates Chairman

Function:
The Honoraries and Associates are retired members who wish to retain their interest in the profession, the AWTE UK and continue to see old friends and colleagues.
Honorary Membership is conferred by the AWTE UK on members who, in the past, have rendered considerable service to the Association.
Associate Membership is for the members who wish to continue membership after retirement and who pay a reduced membership fee.
Special events are arranged for small groups (mostly in the daytime) although both Honorary and Associate Members may join in the normal Association activities.
Role: The Chair of the Honoraries and Associates Sub-Committee represents its interests on the Executive Committee.

Function: The Benevolent Fund was founded in memory of Gillyan Shebbeare, one of our members, who died of cancer. Our purpose is to listen, assist and support members in the short or long term, who find themselves in difficult circumstances.
The Fund raises money by two major schemes:
- a Prize Draw to which members are invited to contribute and which pays out monthly to winners
- fund-raising activities and contributions
You will find the names and contact numbers of the Benevolent Fund Committee members here, as well as at the front of your Membership List. Please do not hesitate to contact one of us if you need help or advice or if you know of another member who does.
